The public is invited to an informational meeting that will be held on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Hale, Building G, of the West Hawaiʻi Civic Center regarding a proposed affordable rental housing project in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
The Ahe Group, an affordable housing developer based in Kailua, Oʻahu is proposing to construct 100 new rental housing units (14 1-bedroom, 72 2-bedroom, and 14 3-bedroom units) on a vacant 10 acre site off Malulani Road, mauka of the Kailua-Kona Lowe’s Home Improvement Center. The proposed project will also include 127 parking stalls, a community center, and a laundry center for use by project residents. The project is intended to provide affordable rental housing to households earning between 30% and 60% of Hawaii County’s median income.
The Ahe Group will be seeking exemptions from certain planning, zoning, and land development standards pursuant to Chapter 201H, Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes. This Public Meeting to inform the community of the proposed project, answer questions, and receive feedback on the proposed project, is a requirement of the 201H program as administered by Hawaii County.
