Following the May 25 announcement by Gov. David Ige, face coverings are no longer required outdoors when on a University of Hawaiʻi campus or property. Face coverings are still recommended outdoors, when in large groups, and are still mandatory while indoors on a UH campus or property.

UH is in the process of updating its COVID-19 guidelines for the 10-campus system, and the campus communities will be notified when the updated guidelines are finalized.

The university announced on May 17 that the COVID-19 vaccination is being added to student health clearance requirements beginning in the fall 2021 semester. The vaccine requirement will take effect only after at least one of the three COVID-19 vaccines currently under emergency use authorization has been approved and fully licensed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which is anticipated this summer.

More information can be found on the UH COVID-19 vaccination requirement for students FAQs. Vaccination appointments at convenient locations can be found in Hawaiʻi and across the continental United States.
