After 15-years in business, the popular restaurant, Splashers Grill in Kailua Kona, is the latest Big Island business casualty from the COVID-19 pandemic as the owners have announced that they are closing for good.

In a Facebook announcement, Owners Inde and Jerry Coggins posted the following:

Dear Friends, Splashers will not be re-opening. We have fought a good fight, but it is time. The limitations of COVID have been an unsurmountable challenge paired with uncertainty, so it is time to turn the page. As we reflect on 15 years we are filled with pride and happiness. We have been privileged to be part of your Ohana, watching your children grow up, celebrating soccer wins and, father-daughter valentine dates, weddings, and crying with you during tough times. Thank you for the gift of letting us be part of this amazing community. What an incredible ride it has been. Jerry and I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our team, they are the most courageous, talented hospitality professionals in the industry, and we are proud of each of them. Mahalo for 15 years!

  1. We are so sorry Splashers has closed! We loved the fresh fish they served. Servers were also fun, efficient, and kind. Splashers was our go to place to eat in Kona! We will miss this unique, fun restaurant!

  2. Dear splashers, here on the mainland a venue closed because road construction limited their attendance. Patrons were so upset they did a huge fund raiser, people sold hotdogs, crafts, palm reading to donate and keep them open. Too sad a joyful place like splashers should close

  3. Sorry to hear you have closed. Your place was the first place I stopped when I landed on the Island, dinner usually during the mid part of my stay and it was the last place I ate the day flying out. Have been with you for all the years you were open. Hopefully someone can “try” to duplicate you did for all your customers and open Splashers up again

  4. I too, like Mike, stopped at splashers the first night in Kona, and every morning for the next two weeks I tried to get the number one table in the corner facing the bay. Your breakfast menu was wonderful. I was in Kona off and on for about six months, and on my last flight out, Splashers was my last meal. Thanks for being there, and I am disappointed you’ve had to close.
