This is a COVID-19 informational update for Sunday, May 30th.

For Hawaii County, the Department of Health reports 63 new Coronavirus cases and is currently monitoring 129 active cases with 3 persons hospitalized.

The rise in new cases is due to spreading of the coronavirus in the Hawaii Community Correctional Center in Hilo.  The Department of Public Safety and Department of Health have been working to isolate the infected and test the entire population including staff to minimize further spread.

There is no community testing scheduled for today. The next community testing will be on Monday, May 31st when three operations are planned. Both testing and vaccination will be available at Greenwell Park from 8 until 11 in the morning and at Honaunau Rodeo Arena from 1 until 3 in the afternoon. A third test site will be at Ho’oko Park in Waikoloa Village from 8 until 11 in the morning.

For more information regarding vaccinations, contact the Department of Health at (808) 300-1120. You can also visit the Civil Defense website for a list of all clinics and pharmacies providing vaccinations and testing.
