On Saturday, May 27, Kings’ Shops proudly hosted a heartwarming event on the Putting Green to honor and celebrate local emergency medical teams, police officers, firefighters and other first responders. The occasion was made possible through a collaboration with the non-profit organization Friends of First Responders, aimed at promoting the wellness of these dedicated individuals and their ‘ohana.

In an atmosphere filled with laughter and gratitude, young and old(er) enjoyed friendly golf on the green, carnival treats like cotton candy and popcorn, nonstop live entertainment, and an impressive lunch buffet by Foster’s Kitchen.

The day included skillful face painting and balloon artistry by Kimmie the Magician, and the music of Haunani Wershig, Tom Zablan and Duke Tatom and Duke Tatom. Most exciting for the keiki, a fire engine, tanker, and ambulance made a special appearance, despite being on call, to greet the attendees and demonstrate their dedication to the community’s safety.

Friends of First Responders was founded in 2021 by Police and Fire Chaplain Renee Godoy, whose years of experience inspired her to help generate more community support for first responders and their families. For more information, visit www.fofrhi.com
