COVID Unit staff

Hilo Medical Center reports that as of 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct.13, 2020, Hilo Medical Center is resuming limited visitation. From 3 to 7 p.m. daily, one visitor per patient per day is allowed. No visitation allowed in the Emergency Department and also for hospitalized COVID patients.

Six total COVID-positive patients are hospitalized. One is in the Intensive Care Unit, four are in the COVID Unit and one is in OB.

Hilo Medical Center’s Extended Care Facility is COVID-free. Admissions have resumed. No visitor policy remains in effect for the protection of our kupuna.

Six total community deaths related to COVID-19 occurred at the hospital on Sept. 8 and 18, Oct. 4, 6, 7, and 8.

STATE UPDATE:

State: 13,575 cases with 173 deaths.

Hawaii Island: 974 total cases, 21 new cases reported today and 37 total deaths related to COVID-19 have occurred – Six community at the Hilo Medical Center, one community at the Kona Community Hospital, three from Life Care Center, per their website, and 27 from the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home.
