U.S. Senator Brian Schatz announced that the State of Hawai‘i will receive $9.3 million in new federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to cover administrative expenses following the Kilauea eruption in 2018.
“While HI-EMA has been asked to do much more this year with a lot less revenue, this new funding will give the state more resources to continue their critical work and protect Hawai‘i residents from disasters,” said Senator Schatz.
To date, Hawai‘i has received more than a half a billion dollars in total federal relief funding to recover from the 2018 natural disasters.
