At the direction of the U.S. President, Governor Ige has ordered the U.S. and Hawaiʻi state flag to be flown at half staff to mark the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The action serves to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 people that died that day.

Sept. 11 also marks Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, where the nation joins together to honor our first responders who answered the call of duty, and the brave civilians who rushed into action to save lives and help the injured that day.
