The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flood Advisory for the Island of Hawaii until 10 p.m. HST. 

At 6:50 p.m. HST, radar indicated heavy rain over leeward slopes of the Kohala mountains, from Waikoloa Village northward to near Upolu point. Rain was falling at a rate of around 1 inch per hour. Minor flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas is possible. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include Waikoloa Village, Kapa’au, Kohala Ranch, Kawaihae, Puako, Hawi, Kamuela, Mahukona and Mauna Lani. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.
