The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the Island of Hawaii until midnight tonight.

At 8:55 p.m. radar indicated heavy rain moving in across the northwest section of the Big Island extending north 
Keahole Point to Kawaihae to Waipio Valley. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include… Kailua-Kona, Waikoloa Village, Kapaau, Honokaa, Kamuela, 
Puako, Kawaihae, Puuanahulu, Kohala Ranch, Waipio Valley, Waimanu Valley, Pololu Valley, Kukuihaele, Pohakuloa Training Area, Halaula, Hawi, Kalaoa, Paauilo, Holualoa and Honalo. 

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. 

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for all Hawaiian Islands. 

This advisory may need to be extended beyond midnight if flooding persists.
