On Thursday, October 12, U.S. EPA Regional Administrator Martha Guzman and County of Hawai‘i Mayor Mitch Roth will join the leaders from the University of Hawai‘i, local businesses, and the community to announce over $2.1 million in grants to the University and County to create a circular reuse economy, support local businesses, and improve the health and environment for all Hawaiians.

Funded by the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) and Pollution Prevention (P2) grant program, these grants are part of EPA’s largest single investment in zero waste and infrastructure. The Regional Administrator will reveal how, thanks to President Joe Biden’s Investing in America agenda, EPA is investing more funding than ever to improve Hawai’i’s health, economy, and environment, especially for those most vulnerable.
