Examples of Duties

Clean Rooms and Common Areas

  1. Clean (including vacuuming, wiping, mopping, polishing, etc.) rooms, offices, and common areas; polish and straighten items; ensure residents’ rooms are safe, comfortable, and maintained in an attractive manner and residents’ personal items are safeguarded.
  2. Clean up spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed or directed.
  3. Ensure equipment and work areas are safe; that procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials or objects are strictly adhered to; and that equipment and supplies are properly stored.
  4. Ensure Universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed; and promptly report any hazardous conditions and equipment.

Administrative and Supply

  1. Report all incidents and accidents.
  2. Ensure cleaning schedules are followed; and coordinate daily housekeeping services with other departments.
  3. Ensure that equipment and supply carts and adequate supplies are properly maintained.
  4. Ensure that lighting is in proper working order; and assist others in lifting as requested.
  5. Strip, wax and buff floors as directed; move and replace furniture; clean storage and exterior areas as directed.

Exterior and Floor CareSafety

  1. Comply with all safety policies, regulations and requirements regarding fire and life safety.
  2. Comply with all safety policies regulations and requirements involving employee safety and patient safety. This includes but is not limited to: a zero tolerance for harassment and violence; following infection control procedures; following safe patient handling as required with your specific job position.
  3. May be required to assist in the evacuation of patients during emergency situations.
  4. Meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Preferred Experience:

  • Deep cleaning, sanitizing, maintenance or custodial work in a long-term healthcare facility or related facility,
  • Patient care,
  • Using disinfectants and various other industrical cleaning agents,
  • Using personal protective equipment (PPE) and working in hazardous conditions, and
  • Experience following safety protocols, policies, and procedures

Supplemental Information

Applicants must be prepared for the potential to work overtime and in hazardous conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided by Civil Defense.
