CD: Weather Update

Dec 7, 2021

This is a Civil Defense message.

This is a Weather Conditions update for Tuesday morning, December 7th.

The National Weather Service has cancelled all weather warnings, watches, and advisories for the Island of Hawaii for this recent storm.

At this time, there are no major road closures.

All County Beach Parks are reopened, with the exception of Onekahakaha Beach Park in Keaukaha which remains closed for debris cleanup.

For those displaced from their homes due to storm impacts, the shelter at the Kea`au Armory located in Shipman Park is open. Persons coming to the shelter, please bring everything you will need to sustain yourself, your pets, and household members for a 24-hour period. This shelter is pet-friendly. Your pet must be contained by a crate or pet carrier while at the shelter.

Due to the intensity of rainfall and wind experienced across Hawaii Island earlier this week, service crews continue to clear downed trees, debris, and restore access and utilities.

Please be patient, as service crews are limited and restoration is time consuming and hazardous. For additional information regarding power restoration, please visit the HELCO website and click on the link in the orange box for Hawaii Island. https://www.hawaiianelectric.com/crews-respond-to-storm-related-outages-on-hawaii-island
