This is a Civil Defense Brush Fire update for Saturday, July 31 at 6 PM.
Attention residents of Pu`u Kapu Hawaiian Homestead and residents of Waikii Ranch.
Due to the progression of the fire, heavy smoke in the firefighting area, and low visibility, Hawaii Fire Department has issued a mandatory evacuation to all residents of Pu`u Kapu Hawaiian Homestead and Waikii Ranch. I say again, all residents of Pu`u Kapu Hawaiian Homestead and Waikii Ranch are to evacuate at this time.
The County has opened an Evacuation Center at Waimea District Park in Waimea. Please bring personal provisions of food, water, and sleeping supplies. Waimea District Park is a pet friendly facility.
Old Saddle Road remains closed. The fire threatens Hwy 190 near the Old Saddle Road Junction. All motorists, please avoid Old Saddle Road and Hwy 190 north of Waikoloa Road.
