This is a COVID-19 informational update for Sunday, June 13th.

For the County of Hawaii, the Department of Health reports two new cases with 250 active cases and four persons hospitalized.

For your information while the majority of these cases are associated with inmates at Hawaii Community Correctional Center in Hilo there are small numbers of travel and community spread cases on our island. It is more important now as restrictions are lifted to follow the mandates of wearing face coverings indoors, distancing and limiting gatherings to 10 persons indoors and 25 outdoors.

On testing, the next community test will be on Tuesday, June 15, with 2 tests scheduled. Beginning at 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon testing and vaccination will be offered at the Volcano Cooper Center and again at J Hara Store in Kurtistown from 2 until 6 in the afternoon. Testing will also be available in Hilo on Wednesday from 3 until 6 in the afternoon at the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The Department of Health, clinics, and pharmacies offer coronavirus vaccinations on a regularly basis. By being vaccinated, you are helping to keep your family and friends safe. For information regarding vaccination, please contact the Department of Health at (808) 300-1120. You can also visit the Civil Defense (CD) website for a list of all clinics and pharmacies providing vaccinations and tests.
