This is a COVID-19 informational update for Friday, September 24th.

For Hawaii County, the Department of Health reports 68 new cases and 1,023 active cases, with 25 persons hospitalized.  The number of deaths attributed to Coronavirus throughout this pandemic on Hawaii Island has increase during this high rate in cases to 81. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of those that have passed from this virus. 

We need to continue our efforts as the virus continues to be transmitted within our communities.  Please follow the preventive measures of wearing face coverings, maintaining physical distancing, limiting gatherings, staying home when you are sick and getting vaccinated.  

On testing, for today, community tests are scheduled in Kona at the Kona Aquatics Center from 1 pm – 5 pm and in Puna at the Pahoa District Park from 1 to 3 pm.

For Saturday the following vaccination and testing clinics are available; 

  • Hilo Lanes from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Kona International Market 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Waimea District Park 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Testing only at the Hilo Civic 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
