Ikaika Marzo will be performing as a special guest

Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo – a DoubleTree by Hilton invites the local community to celebrate the first anniversary of the hotel’s Kaʻimi Pono program taking place on King Kamehameha I Day, Sunday, June 11. In addition to commemorating the King’s birthday, the celebration honors the property’s programming designed to honor its dedicated and ongoing commitment to protecting, preserving, and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture. Members of the local community, hotel guests, friends, and family are invited to participate in this fully immersive and complimentary one day only event, which takes place at the property from 12 – 4 p.m.

The celebration will emphasize the history of Hawai’i Island, Hawaiian language, sense of place for the location of Maka’okū on the Waiākea Peninsula, as well as the property’s storied history serving locals and visitors to the island. Program highlights include authentic Hawaiian music, and Hula performers, as well as several local exhibitors. Featured participants include Hālau Ke ʻOlu Makani ʻO Maunaloa, Hālau Nā Pua O ʻUluhaimalama, Hālau Ka Lehua Pua Kamaehu, special guest artist Ikaika Marzo, and Lei Hulu exhibit.  The event will be emceed by KWXX radio personality Kuehu Mauga.  Beverages and light pūpū are available for purchase at the hotel’s lobby bar. Complimentary self-parking is available across the street at Naniloa Golf Course.
