The Hawaii Fire Department responded to two male swimmers in distress at Lekeleke Bay (End of the World) around 3 p.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021.

Upon arrival, one swimmer made it to shore safely with minor injuries which required no Emergency Medical Service (EMS) attention. The other swimmer was still in the ocean, face down and unresponsive. 

Two Fire Rescue Specialists (FRS) from Kailua Fire Station entered the ocean and secured the body from going under. Hawaii County Fire Department Chopper 2 was used to extract the fire fighters and the unidentified male body to an awaiting ambulance. No other injuries reported.

The unidentified male body was reported to be 30 to 40 years-old.
