KTA Super Stores, one of Hawai’i Island’s oldest locally owned and operated businesses, is
currently growing their workforce to better serve our communities. There are currently more
than 60 positions (many with multiple openings) that need to be filled across all six of the
Island’s locations.

“We are currently seeking teammates who want to work for a local company, support our
local economy, and have a desire to meet and serve the local community and visitors to our
Island,” said Wendy Volivar, KTA Super Stores Assistant Human Resources Manager.

KTA Super Stores is one of the only employers on Hawai‘i Island that employs workers
starting at the age of 14 years old, making it a great entry level option. It also offers
generous benefits for both full-time and part-time employees in both temporary and
permanent positions.

“I love and appreciate KTA so much. They helped me a lot throughout my high school years,
and I know that working here will help me throughout college,” said Talia Respicio, part-
time Courtesy Clerk.

As a business that works with local farmers, producers, and other local businesses, KTA
provides jobs that can serve as an entry point into the food industry or long term positions
for those who enjoy the grocery environment. KTA employees have the opportunity to learn
everything from proper food handling to time management while on the job. It’s a great
place to start for those looking to do anything from culinary arts to restaurant management.
Culinary-related positions at the stores include opportunities at the deli, meat counter,
bakery, and in the produce department.

In addition to food services, KTA Super Stores is hiring for entry-level positions in customer
service and operations including Cashier, Custodian, Counter Clerk, Stock Clerk, and Courtesy
Clerk. Specialized positions include a part-time opening for a Pharmacy Technician. Positions
include part-time and full-time and KTA primarily promotes from within, creating a path to
upper level positions for those looking for a long-term career.

“I like working at KTA because they provide a great working environment that lets you build
valuable skills and connections. Their flexible scheduling also makes it easy to work around
my school schedule. Overall, KTA is a great company filled with great people,” said Dylan
“Kekoa” Sofia-Lee, recent UH Hilo graduate who was promoted to full-time Accounting
Clerk.

Jobs at KTA Super Stores offer competitive compensation packages. All positions start
above minimum wage and increase incrementally based on experience, availability, and the
position. Benefits are available to employees working part-time (20 or more hours per
week). Benefits include medical, dental, drug, and vision insurance; a 401(k); an Employee
Assistance Program; and employee discounts in-store and through retail and service
partners. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible for life insurance, paid vacation, and
holiday and sick leave.

KTA also provides on the job training and opportunities for advancement. This training is
available to part-time and full-time employees at all skill levels, from staff positions to
management positions and from store positions to administrative positions. For those

“We know that job seekers who are returning to the workforce or are looking for their first
job have a lot of options right now. We also know that jobs at KTA Super Stores provide
great opportunities and excellent benefits for all of our team members. We are very excited
to welcome new members not just to our business, but to our ‘ohana,” Volivar said.
