Hawaiʻi lawmakers are asking that those involved in the attack on the United States Capitol this week be placed on the federal no-fly list.

A group of 15 State Representatives and Senators have sent a letter to Charles H. Kable, IV, director of the U.S. Terrorist Screening Center, asking that he “take immediate and decisive action to identify these individuals and ban them from commercial air travel.”

“We watched in horror as our Nation’s Capitol was stormed by a group of individuals engaged in domestic terrorism. This event is a direct attack on our democracy. As such, we have sent a letter to the United States Terrorist Screening Center urging them to identify the individuals involved in the insurrection and to place these individuals on the federal no-fly list.”

The letter is signed by Representatives Tam, Della Au Belatti, Cedric Asuega Gates, Greggor Illigan, Matthew S. LoPresti, Lisa Marten, Takashi Ohno, Richard H.K. Onishi, Amy A. Perruso, Jackson D. Sayama, Chris Todd, and Tina M.L. Wilderberger.Senators signing the letter include Stanley Chang, Sharon Y. Moriwaki, Lorraine R. Inouye and Joy A. San Buenaventura.
