Gov. Ige released $500,000 in Capital Improvement Funds (CIP) to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of the Big Island (BGCBI).

BGCBI CEO Chad Cabral posted the following, “Big MAHALO to Senator Kai Kahele and Representative Chris Todd for making this happen for the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island!”

The funds will be used for improvements at the club’s central youth development facilities, including but not limited to, improvements for Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.

“This was a long process of weekend and after hours grant writing, submittal to the State Legislature, conversations on why this is needed for our kids, gaining the decision makers support, and then securing the approval and signature by the Governor,” Cabral said. “We couldn’t have done it without Kai and Chris! Mahalo nui. Thank you to all of our Hawai’i Island delegation that helped us to secure this shovel ready CIP project!”
