The County of Hawaii reports that an additional county testing and vaccination POD will be held in Hilo at the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium tomorrow, August 1.
The site will be in operation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open for walk-ins. Tests are free so long as the individual is exhibiting symptoms related to COVID-19, has been in recent contact with a known positive case, and/or is directed by a physician to the testing location. KTA Superstores will provide tests and vaccinations. Testing for travel-related purposes will not be accepted.
County officials would like to advise residents to remain home and limit gatherings as much as possible.
“With the steep rise in COVID-19 cases on our island, it is our obligation to our community to ensure that we provide ample opportunity for testing and vaccination so that we can keep each other safe,” said Mayor Mitch Roth. “We’d like to thank KTA for their unwavering support of community’s health and safety throughout the pandemic and for being so willing to set up additional testing sites at a moment’s notice. Now, more than ever, we need to be vigilant and do all we can to care for our community – including getting vaccinated if we haven’t already.”
